Becoming an Open Water Diver is the first step towards your scuba adventures. With personalized training we will make sure you are truly comfortable in the under water world.
Open Water Dive Training consists of three parts:
- Academics
- Confined Water
- Open Water – your first dives
Some academics can be completed online and at your own pace. SSI online academics require the student to purchase the course material at our shop and they are then provided an access code for the on-line lessons. SSI also has FREE lessons on line for Snorkeling, Freediving and the first few chapters of the Open Water course. Just create a diver profile, select us as your dive shop and start learning today!! Just Login in and begin..
Confined water is also know as pool sessions. They are conducted at various local pools and are designed to make you feel comfortable in your new environment and familiar with your equipment. Some of the pools that we use are at Bard College, Kingston YMCA, and the Jewish Community Center of Poughkeepsie, NY. We are always looking for new places to expand into, so let us know where you’d like to learn.
In the Open Water portion you will complete at lease 4 open water dives either locally or with a referral at a warmer location of your choosing. It is very important that you select a participating referral dive center.
